Along the lake, Along the way
I’ve always believed that the best places aren’t really about the building.
They’re about the people, the memories, and the feeling you get when you walk through the doors.
For me, Harborspot started with a love for Racine, a love for my family, and a pretty simple idea: leave things better than you found them.
That’s something we try to teach our kids—not just to take from the world, but to contribute to it. To make your corner of it a little better because you were there.
When Meagan and I looked at this property, we saw more than a building on the lake. We saw an opportunity. We saw a place that could expand in our community. A place where families could gather, friends could meet, music could fill the room, and people could sit by Lake Michigan and forget about everything else for a little while.
Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Being in a band has taken me to a lot of places and put me in front of a lot of people, but the thing I've always loved most isn't the stage. It's what happens around the stage.
People come together.
Strangers become friends. Families make memories. Somebody hears a song they haven't heard in twenty years and suddenly they're 25 again. A good night can become a story people tell for years.
I wanted to bring some of that feeling home.
That became a big part of what we envisioned for Harborspot—a place where live music belongs, where the food is something we're proud to put on the table, and where a great drink is meant to be enjoyed with good company.
And, of course, there had to be bourbon.
We even created Harborspot Bourbon a collaboration with Waterford Stillhouse because I wanted something that felt like it belonged here. Something you could pour over ice at the bar, share with a friend, or enjoy while watching the sun go down over the lake. It's one of those little details that makes Harborspot feel like ours.
But at the end of the day, this place isn't really about us.
It's about you.
It's about the couple celebrating an anniversary. The parents bringing their kids out for dinner. The group of friends catching up over drinks. The person sitting at the bar after a long day. The giving local musicians a place to share their story. The regular who eventually feels less like a customer and more like family.
That's what we're hoping to build.
We know we're just one small part of Racine, and we're incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be here. We don't expect to change the world with a restaurant.
But if we can create a place that makes someone's night a little better…
If we can give a local musician a mic…
If we can give a family a memory they'll talk about…
If we can bring a little more energy to Downtown Racine…
If we can leave this place just a little better than we found it…
Then we've done something worthwhile.
That's what Harborspot means to me.
It's food. It's drinks. It's music. It's Lake Michigan.
But most of all, it's people.
And I hope when you walk through our doors, you feel like you've found a spot that's yours, too.
When dining with us, please feel free to ask for me. If I'm not on stage or spending time with my incredible family, I'd love to meet you.
With all that is good,
- Roy
